Between years 1730 and 1736, in a fertile earth place located in the center-western zone of Lanzarote, one of the eruptions took place more important of the history of volcanology. During these years the territories of culture became extensive fields of lava; more than twenty towns and small villages they were buried by the fury of craters.

In 1824 it took place completes eruption of these characteristics in Lanzarote. The brutal action of the nature I form this impressive zone where we were, declared park natural in 1974.

Those are a total of 51 kilometers of surface that constitute the area of the National Park of Timanfaya, in whose interior a chain is raised of volcanos that produced the most important eruptions and than they are denominated of general form Montaņas of the Fire. In this extension of land that arrives until the sea, and in spite of its hostile appearance to any form of life, animal species like the lizard of Haria, the crows, the gulls or pardelas exist, and also great amount and variety of lichens, as well as aulagas, rushes, tojios, languages of cow and other units of endemic flora. Numerous experts in botany, zoology and geology uses the National Park of Timanfaya as it bases for different studies and experiments

Near the park one is the center of visitors and Interpretation of Spot White, pertaining to the Ministry of the Environment, a place where we can find ample information on the characteristics of Timanfaya.
